Well Baby Check up
We acknowledge the Canadian Dental Association recommends to assess a well baby check up by a dentist within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age.
This will aid in caries prevention. However, based on Dr. Ramirez’s clinical experience, he recommends bringing your baby for an exam as soon as possible, ideally right after birth.
The goal is to have your child visit the dentist for well baby check up before there is an issue with their teeth and/or growth and development of the jaws. In most cases, a dental exam will let your child’s dentist catch small problems early.
Benefits of a well baby check up:
- A well baby check up gives us the opportunity to identify current or potential issues and fix them before they become long-term dental issues as your child ages.
- Visiting the dentist with your child gives you an opportunity to talk with the dentist about what you should be doing to help establish good oral care habits for your child.
Your dentist can also talk with you about things you should be conscious of as their teeth grow. - Creating a good dental experience, it’s no secret that many children are not fans of the dentist. Taking them to see a dentist early in life helps them become more comfortable with the experience and know what to expect during future visits.
